Call for Handbook Chapters; Handbook of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, 4th edition, Springer

In 2022, we published the 3rd edition of the Springer Reference Work Handbook of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation, see, https://link.springer.com/referencework/10.1007/978-3-030-72579-2 .

The 5-volume handbook set has been well-received by the market (>250,000 downloads in the past year), and with climate change being more pressing than ever, we have commenced our work on the 4th edition.

That 4th edition will be more comprehensive, and we are seeking additional chapters in many new important areas.

The reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) provide the most comprehensive information on the assessment on physical science basis of climate, impacts, adaptation and vulnerability of climate change, and mitigation of climate change. There is also an urgent need for a single analytical source of mitigation and adaptation that is complementary to the IPCC assessment reports, which, in turn, has been the objective of the Handbook of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation (HBCCMA).  The editors strive to raise the public awareness of climate change and its surrounding issues through this major Springer reference.  It is expected to have a wide spectrum of readership, i.e., it is prepared for all concerned readers who have earned a BS or BA degree.

The Handbook will be published in both hardcover and digital formats.  Multimedia supporting information will be a feature of this Handbook; therefore, we encourage contributors to include photos and videos as part of the Handbook.

We would like to invite your group to contribute a chapter (or more) related to your research.  The chapter should be a review of the field, where you can present your own research and also summarize the state-of-the-art, with approx. 20-40 book pages, in English.  Please feel free to invite co-authors to your chapter, that are of value to the Handbook.

The deadline for the final manuscript is 7 months, i.e., Feb. 28, 2024.  There will be no article publishing fee (APC).  Authors will get access to the electronic version of the Handbook.

Please let us know whether you are interested to contribute. We will then share details (like chapter template).

Many thanks!

Maximilian Lackner, Baharak Sajjadi, Wei-Yin-Chen (editors)
